Chess tournaments in Valencia and nearby towns 15

The tournament year around Valencia peaks in summer. June brings the Vila de Benimaclet open and the Ciudad de Silla international; July the two opens that carry the name "Valencia Cuna del Ajedrez" (Valencia, cradle of chess), one in a building on the Camí de Vera and one at the Colegio Dominicos, followed by the Quart de Poblet weekend of rapid, blitz and Chess960; August the week-long Villa de Mislata, which has passed its fiftieth edition, and a one-day international in Paterna.

The rest of the calendar is quieter but not empty: the team tournament for equality at the Monteolivete club in September, the Sub 2400 of Burjassot, whose seven rounds run from mid-September to late October, then the Christmas open at La Petxina between the holidays. Early June has the free rapid open in the interior square of the Nuevo Centro shopping centre, and the university championship is played in February. The women's blitz La Dama del Ajedrez has no edition on record after its third, and its card says so.
